A young gay man aged just 18 was cowardly murdered and had his face disfigured in Boa Vista, capital of Roraima. The body of Hiago Nunes Trindade was found at around 06am last Friday, 03rd, on a football field in the Buritis neighborhood, West Zone of the city. The Civil Police reported that the young man was attacked with sticks and stones and his face was disfigured. Still according to authorities, the victim, known as “Gugu Nunes” was homosexual. Although the family does not confirm Hiago's alleged homosexuality, the president of Grupo DiveRRsidade, Sebastião Diniz, told the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo that the boy spoke openly about his sexuality with his friends. The crime is being investigated by the General Homicide Police Station (DGH). If the motive of homophobia is proven, this will be the third case of LGBTphobic crime in Boa Vista, in less than thirty days. On October 22, a 27-year-old transsexual was killed with 20 stab wounds inflicted by a public servant. Also on the 22nd, garbage collectors found a male body with at least 25 stab wounds in the landfill. The victim was homosexual.
