Lorena Vicente was sitting in a public square, taking advantage of the place's free Wi-Fi, when the person accused of committing the crime, Luiz Carlos Mariano, 18 years old, began to criticize, pejoratively, her gender identity.

Upset, Petherson Roberto dos Santos, 24, came to the defense of his sister, who was being threatened with aggression by Luiz Carlos. "He threatened to throw his bike at me and my brother went to demand it. Telling him to respect it, right? But then he came, they started arguing and got into a physical fight", said the young woman in a statement to the police.

According to the delegate responsible for the case, Luís Roberto Hellmeister, the crime may have been motivated by prejudice, since, initially, the victim was a trans woman who was being threatened by a straight man.

"He (the killer) is wanted as the perpetrator, he has eyewitnesses, his friend who was with him tried to prevent the crime, but failed. I believe that the motivation, at first, would be prejudice due to 'sexual choice' of the victim's brother (?)", said the delegate.

The case was registered as a qualified homicide and is being investigated by the 92nd Police District of Parque Santo Antônio.
