Judge says school violated lesbian student's rights

After the Itawamba Agricultural school refused the lesbian student's request Constance McMillen of taking his girlfriend to the prom and subsequently canceling the event, Judge Glen Davidson, from the State of Mississippi, stated that the young woman's rights were violated.

"Our records show that Constance has publicly acknowledged her homosexuality since the 8th grade, and that she intended to send a message by wearing a suit and expressing her identity by attending the prom with a partner of the same sex," says the judge's text.

Glen further suggested that Constance's lawyers seek damages, as the violation of constitutional rights "raises a substantial threat of irreparable harm."

According to the student, after the case came to light, she began to be discriminated against at school. On the other hand, in her Facebook community, the girl has 384 thousand members supporting her.

Constance McMillen was also interviewed on lesbian presenter Ellen DeGeneres' show. There, she won a $30 scholarship from a digital media company.
