A large group of jurists and human rights activists filed a request for impeachment of the president Jair Bolsonaro (no party) last Wednesday (25) at the General Secretariat of the Board, the legislative advisory body of the Chamber of Deputies.

Lack of decorum, racism, homophobia and irresponsibility in institutional acts are the arguments of the request filed under number 4260. Relevant names in the field of LGBT activism in Brazil, such as Eliseu Neto, Paulo Iotti, Dimitri Sales and Amanda Anderson, filed the request.

According to column by Monica Bergamo on FSP, more than 200 public figures signed another impeachment request, this one made by PSOL parliamentarians, and filed in the Chamber on March 18.

The impeachment requests come at a time when the Bolsonaro government is in crisis, facing harsh criticism from the most varied sectors of Brazilian society due to the poor handling of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
