They were: Van Basten Bizarreries of God, Jefferson Rodrigues Paulo, 24 years old, Iago Bizarrias de Deus, Wilson de Jesus Marcolino, 20 years old, and Bruno Rodrigues de Oliveira.

According to delegates José Manoel Lopes and Michel Augusto Toricelli, from the 32nd DP (Itaquera), Van, Jefferson and Iago had been temporarily detained since the beginning of July. Wilson is considered a fugitive from justice and Bruno has been monitored by civil police officers from the 32nd DP and is expected to be arrested soon.

In the crime, Laura was allegedly beaten in the street by Van Basten and was later beaten by him and the other four. Family and friends believe the motivation was transphobia.

After being seen walking around bloodied, Laura was approached by two military police officers Ailton de Jesus, 43 years old, and Diego Clemente Mendes, 22. They were called to help her, but ended up shooting her. The death report presented by the Legal Medical Institute indicates head trauma.

During the report, the police officers even forged a witness, lied about having taken Laura to the hospital (which was done by the family) and omitted having fired a shot. They said that the transvestite had entered the vehicle, got behind the wheel of the car and crashed the vehicle against a wall. The family questions the version, since the victim did not know how to drive. The police officers were arrested, but were released after paying bail.

The crime shocked the LGBT community, who went on a march to condemn transphobia in the country.
