She learned about the public policies of the City Hall of São Paulo for LGBT.

During a visit to the Arouche LGBT Citizenship Center, Lana met with Felipe de Paula, municipal secretary of Human Rights and Citizenship, Alessandro Melchior, coordinator of LGBT Policies, Eduardo Raccah, international coordinator of Spcine, and Cristina Abi, producer of O2 Filmes , in addition to the beneficiaries of Transcidadania, a program for the reintegration of transvestites, transsexual women and trans men through schooling.

The series director spoke to the participants and heard emotional accounts of how the program has transformed their lives. “When we hear your story, which is a story of impossibility, due to the difficulty of education and work, what is up to us is to put together a program that gives you autonomy so that you can have the guarantee of choosing what you want to do with your life, whatever the choice. And what we hope is that in about twenty years the program will no longer be necessary and we will be able to live in an absolutely equal way”, said the secretary Felipe de Paula.

The coordination for the director to come to São Paulo was made by Spcine, through the São Paulo Film Commission, responsible for attracting international productions and facilitating filming in the city. The recording of the international series during the Parade, which this year has the theme “GENDER IDENTITY LAW, NOW! – All people together against Transphobia!”, means great advances and visibility for the T population.

Several participants reinforced the importance of trans representation in front of and behind the camera. “Today we have an achievement which is the Transcidadania Program and with this visibility that Sense8 will give us, it will make sure that not only Brazil but the entire world sees that transvestites, transsexual women and trans men are human beings and that The only thing we need is opportunity”, said Aline Marques, coordinator of the Citizenship Center and former beneficiary of the program.

Lana, who proposed a dialogue with the trans people present at the meeting, says that when she was young, she does not remember seeing any positive portrayal of trans people in the media, in films and series. They were portrayed with a tragic story, as addicts, sad, psychopaths. “I understood that I wanted to change this scenario. We have the same rights as human beings, the right to imagine the world that everyone else has. The right to find love, be happy, seek our place in the world", she reveals.

In addition to sharing their life stories, the program participants spoke with Lana about the decree that guarantees respect for the social name by public authorities. She defended the importance of the measure and posed for a photo in defense of the decree's permanence.
