Launch: Homophobia in education is the theme of a new book by Toni Reis

The militant Tony Reis will launch on May 20th the book "Homophobia in the Educational Environment – ​​the silence is screaming" (Editora Appris), which aims to address how prejudice is institutionalized or addressed in schools.

The publication has 329 pages, 84 interviewees and a preface from UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – which says that "there is still much to be done to achieve an educational environment that welcomes and respects the sexual diversity".

Toni wrote the book in two parts. The first provides an overview of normative frameworks that guide education regarding sexual diversity. Afterwards, data from qualitative research on homophobia carried out in municipal and state schools in Curitiba are analyzed.

The launch takes place in three sessions on May 20th in Curitiba. At 8am and 13:30pm in the Municipal Market Auditorium. And at 18:30 pm at the Continuing Training Center of the Municipal Department of Education.
