Lesbian becomes IGLTA ambassador in Brazil

The International Gay & Lesbian Tourism Association (IGLTA) recently appointed a new ambassador for Brazil. Marta Dalla Chiesa, managing partner of the operator Brazil Ecojourneys, will supervise the association's actions in the country. She takes over from Clóvis Casemiro, who was an ambassador and collaborator at IGLTA for many years.

“We are very excited that Marta has accepted this new role, given the importance of South America to IGLTA and the growth of LGBT tourism in the region,” said IGLTA President John Tanzella. “Clóvis did an excellent job and it will not be an easy task to replace him, but we are confident that Marta’s experience in tourism and work with the local LGBT community made her the right person for the role.”

Dalla Chiesa, born in Serra Gaúcha, began her career in tourism in London, at a renowned travel operator for Latin America. In 2003, with her partner Lesley, she returned to Brazil to found Brazil Ecojourneys, the first friendly inbound operator in southern Brazil.

In 2008, Marta took up a position on the board of directors of the Brazilian Tourism Association GLS (ABRAT GLS), where she currently serves as representative in the South of Brazil and director of International Relations. She also serves on the IGLTA Lesbian Action Committee.
