Lesbians don't get a discount on fishing contests

A lesbian couple willing to participate in a fishing contest in the United States was not entitled to a discount on entry, unlike straight couples who attended the event.

Angela and Tina Corriere-Gooch's nieces, who entered with their respective boyfriends, got a $1 discount. “The club treated us like strangers instead of recognizing that we were a couple,” Tina said.

The event director, Mike Raney, said that he did not discriminate against women and that, if he gave a discount to the couple, he would have to repeat the gesture for all other couples, regardless of sexual orientation.

Los Angeles NGO Lambda Legal asked organizers to write a letter with a public apology to the lesbian couple.
