Lilia Cabral criticizes controversy over gay kiss in “Duas Caras”

In an interview with Online Sheet, actress Lilia Cabral criticized the controversial kiss between the characters Bernardinho (Thiago Mendonça) and Carlão (Lugui Palhares) in “Duas Caras”.

“I think what counts is the ability to find yourself in another person and be happy. This has much more human value than simply this story of whether or not to have a gay kiss, which fills me up a little,” she said. “I think this [gay kiss] thing makes everything very small. The kiss is intimate,” she added.

This Tuesday (27), the Outro Canal column, from Folha de São Paulo, reported that TV Globo decided to record the gay kiss scene, but there is no guarantee that it will actually be aired.

Regarding “Mulheres Apaixonadas” (2003), a soap opera by Manoel Carlos that addressed female homosexuality, the actress stated: “Manoel Carlos, when he wrote the relationship between two girls, he wrote it so well that no one was talking about whether there was going to be a kiss or not. ", he said.

In “A Favorita”, the next eight soap opera, Lilia Cabral will play Catarina, a woman who lives in a frustrated marriage with Leon (Jackson Antunes). Whether or not she will be able to have a relationship with another woman, the actress commented: “My character is not homosexual, but if this controversy exists, it will come in an elegant way. Very much in line with what people actually feel when they feel touched by complicity and friendship. It is not homosexuality that will be discussed. The problem will be the discussion of a woman's loneliness. I hope that the discussion will be enriching.”
