According to a Linkedin study, half of Brazilian professionals who are LGBT have already openly assumed their sexual orientation at work. The company carried out a survey of more than a thousand homosexual and heterosexual professionals in the country.
The survey also revealed that another 25% of LGBT respondents have told some of their colleagues about their sexual orientation, while the other 25% have not yet told anyone about it.
Among professionals who did not openly disclose their sexual orientation, the four main factors that prevented people from sharing were as follows:
- not seeing the need (51%)
- not liking to talk about personal life (37%)
- no one knows about sexual orientation inside and outside of work (32%)
- fear of reprisal from colleagues (22%)
