Madonna and world leaders raise more than US$8 billion for coronavirus vaccine

Along with forty European political leaders, Madonna helped raise more than eight billion dollars (approximately R$45 billion) to be invested in the development of a vaccine against the new coronavirus.

The pop singer contributed a donation of US$1,1 million (R$6 million) to the cause. Research and philanthropic institutions also collaborated.

All the money raised was transferred to the European Commission, which heads the initiative. The statements are from with the BBC.
