The host Phillip Schofield, 57, a well-known British TV personality, publicly came out as gay in a moving Instagram post after more than 30 years of career.

Married to a woman for 27 years and father of two daughters, Schofield, according to the website Pink News, wrote in the post – which the presenter has apparently already deleted from his profile – that with their support, he is accepting the fact that he is gay.

“My family has kept me so close; They have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love despite being confused themselves (…). Still, I can't sleep and there have been some dark moments.”

The presenter also said that his “internal conflicts contrast with the external world, which has changed so much for the better”.

“Today, certainly, being gay is a reason for celebration and pride,” he continued. “Yes, I am in pain and I am confused, but that only comes with the pain I am causing my family.”

We're happy for you, Phillip! May you get well soon and exercise your right to be happy being who you really are!
