Malafaia accuses the gay community of being “sick”; A Capa website suffers attempted attack

This Monday (17th) we broadcast a reporter where pastor Silas Malafaia criticizes the "Nem Santo Te Protege" campaign, which uses sacred images to inform that no one is free from the contagion of HIV/Aids. In the video, the pastor asks the Catholic Church to "bring down the cudgel on the gay community."

After the article was published, a flood of comments and emails reached the website's editorial office The Cape. Mostly, fundamentalist outbreaks and others who noticed the fact that the video was edited. Because of this, the report The Cape went to check out the program in full.

When watching the original video, it is possible to see that, when it comes to offenses against the LGBT community, unedited content takes a backseat to edited content. In other words, it's much worse. Firstly, Silas Malafaia begins the program by analyzing the coverage of the newspapers "O Estado de São Paulo", "Folha de São Paulo" and "O Globo" in relation to the March for Jesus and the LGBT Pride Parade.

When comparing the coverage of "O Globo", the pastor is indignant and gives a zero rating to the newspaper, which only gives a footnote to the March and a full page to the LGBT event. "Look, 'O Globo', what a beautiful thing, puts an event in São Paulo on the front page. Ten for 'Folha', ten for 'Estadão' and zero for the newspaper 'O Globo'", criticizes the pastor.

Next, Malafaia says that he "doesn't hate homosexuals" and repeats the standard speech that he loves the sinner, but not his practices. The pastor also talks about an apparent persecution of evangelicals by the press and justifies this fact because the newsrooms are "full of gays".

"When a pastor kicked a saint, the press denounced the comrades. The comrade had to flee Brazil because he was even threatened with death. Now, the Gay Pride ridicules Catholic symbols and the press says nothing, doesn't put down its cudgel... Yeah That's what they want, to put a gag on society so they can say whatever they want, criticize and ridicule whatever they want", protests the religious man.

At another point, Silas Malafaia states that he will not "waste his time" suing. "You can say what you want... But I ask you: who are the sick people? Who are the real sick people, people? The guys want with this pseudo law of homophobia [PLC 122/06], they want a law of privilege to speak whatever they want. And do you know why the press doesn't say anything? Because inside the editorial offices it's full of gays and they manipulate the information, it's full [of gays] in the editorial offices, in the newspapers and on TV. would do something against the Catholic church if they [press] weren't going to persecute and get involved like they did?", asks Malafaia.

Finally, the pastor emphasizes that the Catholic Church "has to get down on [gay] guys."
