Matt Damon will play Michael Douglas' romantic partner in film about gay pianist

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas will play a couple in a film directed by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic), which will tell the story of pianist and showman Valentino Liberace, considered one of the greatest phenomenons in recent music.

Damon will play the role of driver and bodyguard to the singer, played by Douglas. In real life, despite talk of the romance between the two, the singer never publicly admitted his homosexuality and even had heterosexual relationships.

Wladziu Valentino Liberace was the son of European immigrants and died in 1987 due to complications from AIDS. His last public appearance was on the Oprah Winfrey show in 1986. Liberace was the highest paid pianist in the USA in the 50s and 70s.
