The seventh art once again contributed in an exemplary way when it came to showing little-known (or ignored) realities and guiding conversations in bars, pubs and circles of friends.

Love Is Strange

Ben (John Lithgow) and George (Alfred Molina) are a couple with a stable relationship for 40 years, but she ends up shaking when they decide to get legally married. George loses his job and the couple's standard of living changes radically.

Beira Mar

Tomaz (Maurício José Barcellos) comes out as gay to his best friend Martin (Mateus Alamada) during a trip where they go to find a document for Martin's father on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and there they end up having an intimate affair.

O Jogo da Imitação

Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) the famous English mathematician who became known as the inventor of what we know today as a computer. He ended up dying of depression, because in England in the 40s, being gay was a crime and even taking medication to "cure" himself, he couldn't stand the pressure from society.

Cassia Eller

The uncensored documentary by the openly lesbian singer, Cássia Eller, showed the romantic relationships and intimate details that few knew about until then. 

Above the clouds

Maria Enders (Julliette Binoche), a veteran actress, has just received an invitation to revive on stage the play that made her a superstar. In the play Maria ends up having a love affair with her assistant. Maria then, to prepare for this new challenge, goes to the Swiss Alps and ends up having a relationship with Valentine (Kristen Stewart), her assistant, turning the story of the play into something real.

Vai Que Cola – The Movie

The film was made to give full visibility to Paulo Gustavo's character, Valdomiro, but Marcus Majella, Ferdinando, manages to stand out more than the protagonist, having the funniest scenes in the film, especially the moment where he plays the transvestite viral LuisaMarilac in the pool – it makes you laugh.

On fire

Tony (Daniel Brühl) is completely in love with his friend Adam (Bradley Cooper). Adam is the chef at Tony's hotel. The relationship is simply friendship, but (spoiler) at the end of the film there is a super kiss on the mouth between them, a gesture of affection from Adam to Tony because he was the only one to support him when he was at rock bottom.

California

Carlos (Caio Blat) is the uncle of the protagonist Estela (Clara Gallo). Openly gay and music critic who lives in California in the 80s, he ends up contracting the AIDS virus and when he finds out about the disease, he returns to Brazil and tries to make the most of the little time he has left, spending time with his niece.

FoxCatcher – The Story that Shocked the World

Although the character of Steve Carell (John) is not explicit in the film, he harbors a veiled passion for fighter Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum), to whom he has just offered all the structure so he can train on his FoxCatcher farm. This relationship, which becomes more intimate every day, ends up having tragic contours in its outcome.

It's about the unlikely love relationship between a middle-aged man Armando (Alfredo Castro) and a young gang leader, Elder (Luis Silva). The film was the winner of the Venice Film Festival in 2015.

The Summer of Sangaile

A completely original lesbian romance, narrated in an extremely creative way between the dreamy Sangaile (JulijaSteponaitytė) and the sweet Auste (AistėDirziūtė). It is pure aesthetic poetry.

COME IN 2016!!

Among the most anticipated films of the year is The Danish girl, a film that tells the story of a transsexual and is scheduled to be released on February 25th. Actor Eddie Redmayne, who won the Oscar for best performance last year, is a clear name among the 2016 nominees due to this highly anticipated role.

Here in Brazil, the controversial documentary by deputy Jean Wyllys "#eu_jeanwyllys"  is being highly anticipated and has had the help of virtual kitty to hit cinema screens in 2016.
