Pulse Massacre Memorial, Orlando is underway: a milestone of resistance for the LGBTQ+ community

Significant progress could be observed in the creation of a definitive memorial in tribute to the victims and survivors of the tragic event that marked the history of the LGBTQIAPN+ community. It was on June 12, 2016, at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, that 49 innocent people lost their lives in an unprecedented act of violence.

The initiative that takes the project to its next stage, an important step towards transforming the site into a permanent memorial, is its inclusion in the city of Orlando's preliminary budget for next year.

The OnePulse Foundation, a non-profit organization established by the owners of the Pulse nightclub, conceived the project with the aim of honoring the memory of the victims, providing a healing environment for survivors and all those affected, and, most importantly, promoting the world a message of love, understanding and acceptance.

The project titled “Pulse Memorial & Museum” includes the construction of a memorial and museum, and the institution of scholarships in the name of the 49 victims. The Pulse National Museum and the Pulse Tower of Memory, both located in the area where the nightclub was located, will be places to celebrate the lives and legacy of those who were tragically taken. The expectation is that the monument will be ready by 2025.

The National Pulse Museum will be built on 30 square feet and will tell the story of those lost, as well as the united community response to this terrifying act. Next door will be the Pulse Memory Tower, a peaceful sanctuary intended to convey a message of love, hope and unity.

A landmark of resistance and resilience, the Pulse Massacre Memorial, in addition to carrying forward the reminder of the tragedy that occurred, represents a living testimony of the constant struggle for love and acceptance. This place of memory will serve as a beacon of hope for everyone, reinforcing the importance of equal rights and respect for diversity, for a more just and inclusive society.

Furthermore, it will establish a lasting legacy for victims and survivors, offering an intriguing historical, social and human narrative, highlighting the importance of love and tolerance in today's world.

The most important message that transcends is that love will always win over hate. This active tribute to the 49 lost angels will undoubtedly serve as an ongoing proof and a permanent symbol of unconditional love and unity against all acts of hatred.
