“Meta Na Sua Cabeça”: Program talks about syphilis, transmitted by simple touch

Great care must be taken to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. Syphilis is an example of this. After all, for transmission to occur, all it takes is contact with a wound, a typical sign of the first phase of the disease, or touching a person with red spots that appear as the disease progresses.

These alerts are given by the "Meta Na Sua Cabeça" program with the infectious disease specialist and member of the Municipal STD/Aids Program, Zarifa Khoury. In the interview, the professional also draws attention to the fact that the disease "deceives" the patient. "The first sign of syphilis is a sore that disappears on its own. Many people may think they are cured, but this is not true. The evolution of this disease continues in the body and can lead to dementia", she says.

The "Meta Na Sua Cabeça" program is part of an initiative of the same name carried out by the social networking site Available.com and by the NGO Estruturação – Grupo LGBT de Brasília. See more information at website from the project.
