Ghanaian minister calls for arrest of gays in the country

The Minister of the Western Region of Ghana, Paul Evans, has made a homophobic statement towards gays in his country. In an interview with "Joy FM" radio, Paul asked the local police to arrest all homosexuals in the region.

"We will make every effort to get rid of these people in our society," said the minister. The Christian Council of Ghana, which brings together orthodox churches, this week also labeled homosexuality a "detestable and abominable act".

According to the council, if same-sex relationships were legalized it would bring "unbearable consequences" for the country.
