Monument in honor of gay victims of Nazism opens in Berlin

The monument in honor of the 27 thousand homosexuals condemned during the Nazi regime was inaugurated this past Tuesday (05/54), close to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.

Rectangular in shape, the concrete block, about four meters high, has a small gap where a scene from a black-and-white film where two men kiss is projected.

The work of artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset aims to "keep alive the memory of injustice and establish a lasting sign against intolerance, hostility and exclusion of gays and lesbians", explain the words next to the new memorial.
