Renowned DJ Mauro Borges dies

Renowned DJ from the LGBT scene, Mauro Borges, died early this Friday, in São Paulo. The cause of death was not disclosed.

A journalist by training, Mauro worked for 31 years as one of the main DJs in the country, responsible for successful nightclubs, such as Massivo, in the Jardins neighborhood, opened in 1991.

Mauro is also one of the main people responsible for promoting drag culture in Brazil, back in the 20th century, when the subject was a taboo far from being broken.

A model, the DJ even posed naked for the pages of the now-defunct G Magazine in the 1990s.
