Exhibition “The Homosexual Character in Brazilian Cinema” premieres at Caixa Cultural do Rio

From February 4th, at Caixa Cultural in Rio de Janeiro, a selection of films will be presented in the exhibition "The Homosexual Character in Brazilian Cinema"
 
In total there will be 17 feature films and 5 short films, two debate panels, in addition to the presence of filmmakers and experts. Through a historical review, films from the 80s, which marked Brazilian cinematographic production, will be shown and discussed based on the evolution of the representation of the gay community on the big screen. 
 
The most recent, such as "Flores Raras", by Bruno Barreto, which features actress Gloria Pires in the role of architect Lota de Macedo who falls in love with poet Elizabeth Bishop; "Como Esquecer", by Lu Martinho, with Ana Paula Arósio in the cast; and "Elvis and Madona", by Marcelo Laffitte, complete the exhibition.
 
Classics such as "Madame Satã", by Karim Ainouz, and "O Beijo no Asfalto", by Bruno Barreto, will also be shown. Among the shorts is the tribute to Cláudia Wonder, produced by director Dácio Pinheiro in "Meu Amigo Cláudia". Also noteworthy is the award-winning "I Don't Want to Go Back Alone", by Daniel Ribeiro
 
Curator Antônio Moreno, film critics Susana Schild and José Carlos Monteiro, filmmaker Luís Carlos Lacerda and anthropologist and activist Luiz Mott are part of the debate tables.
