Changed his mind: Mark Ruffalo withdraws support for Marina Silva for gay marriage

The American actor Mark Ruffalo, who had expressed support for Marina Silva (PSB) for the Presidency of Brazil, changed his mind. He stated that he cannot applaud a candidate who refuses to support gay marriage.

"I cannot, in good conscience, support a candidate who takes away an important right, like gay marriage and reproductive rights, even if the candidate wants to do the right thing on environmental issues," he explained.

Previously, the candidate's campaign released a video in which Mark says she is "one of the most interesting and encouraging people on the world political stage."

After the retraction of the actor, who played a homosexual in the film "The Normal Heart", Marina's team tried to reverse the new announcement and said that the Brazilian elections are a "flood of lies" and that the candidate is a "historic defender of human rights".

In terms of government, Marina only defends civil unions, already guaranteed by law, and avoids using the word "gay marriage".
