Trans woman gives moving story about being welcomed by her stepfather and grandmother

Karen Maria Reis, a trans woman from Colatina, Espírito Santo, made a moving post on her Facebook paying homage to her stepfather, Seu Reinaldo, a 73-year-old man who, despite his little knowledge of gender and sexuality issues, , always respected her, showed affection, love and never questioned or was ashamed of her daughter, something that unfortunately happens a lot due to lack of information and other issues. In the publication, she also spoke about her grandmother Lourdes, who welcomed her with open arms and never questioned her granddaughter's gender transition. The young woman emphasized the naturalness with which her stepfather Reinaldo and her grandmother refer to her by female pronouns and how she was able to realize that a person who truly loves another accepts them as they truly are. In one excerpt, Karen wrote: “Do you see this man behind me? It's Uncle Reinaldo, my stepfather. He doesn't have a blood tie to me, but he took care of me for 10 years of my life. He is a closed, brutish gentleman, the famous grumpy old man. But ask if he AT LEAST stuttered to call me feminine or Karen? NOT ONCE".
