In the closet: Research shows that a third of homosexuals do not come out for fear of rejection

A survey carried out by Ibope showed that the main reason why gays do not admit their sexual orientation in the family and at work is the fear of rejection.

In the professional field, 24% are afraid that their sexual orientation will harm or interfere with their career.

According to the survey, men are more likely to admit that they are homosexual or bisexual: 16% of male respondents compared to 8% of women. Another relevant factor is age, the younger you are, the greater your desire to assume your sexual orientation.

Among those who took office, 15% are up to 29 years old, 10% are between 30 and 49 years old and 5% are over 50. The concentration by regions of the country is similar in the South (10%) Southeast (13%) Central West ( 14%), Northeast (13%). North had the worst number (2%).
