“We love our gay fans,” says Jonas Brothers' Nick

At 19 years old, brother Nick, from the band Jonas Brother, spoke about his return to Broadway, with the play “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, and also about issues related to the gay public, in an interview with Advocate magazine.

In the play, Nick will replace actor Darren Criss, from Glee. His character has also been played by Daniel Radcliffe. In fact, Criss and Radcliffe have already participated in the Trevor Project's “It Gets Better” campaign, which fights against suicide among young gay men. Asked if he would participate in a similar campaign, Nick said yes.

"For sure. I plan to do everything I can to help, including the Trevor Project and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. I want to inspire all the young people, who are being bullied or just having a difficult time at home,” said the young singer/actor.

Regarding his gay fans, Nick states that he was very happy to realize that the band also influenced this audience and revealed that he loves receiving gifts from them.

“We love our gay fans. It was definitely cool when we realized that. They have been amazing over the years. My brothers and I were totally excited to meet them because they really respond to our style, and it's cool to see how our influence has impacted what they're wearing. They also make really good gifts. They always have good taste.”

Speaking of good taste, the singer says that his team has a lot of gay professionals, including the one who helps with his costumes. “We work with a lot of gay people as part of our team, and they are amazing. We are blessed to have them.”

As for the majority of celebrities and pop idols, who emerge from boy bands, never come out of the closet, the publication asks if one of the members of the Jonas Brother were gay and if he came out, what impact this would have on the band's career. “The most amazing thing about our fans is that they are incredibly supportive of everything we do, but I have to separate that because the three of us are not gay. If someone in our position came out, I would hope that the support would come out and that their fans would love them just the same.”

Nick Jonas also spoke about gay marriage. "My thoughts on gay marriage are that everyone has the right to love and be loved, and that's the position I take," he concluded.
