Homophobia and transphobia numbers show that violence against the LGBT group has not decreased. On the contrary, it increased. This year, every hour a homosexual, bisexual, transvestite or transsexual suffers some type of violence in Brazil.

The data comes from Dial 100, from the Human Rights Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, which registered more than 6,5 reports of homophobic attacks until October 2014.
In 2011, the number was 1.159 cases. In other words, an increase of more than 460%.
According to the figures obtained, young people account for 33% of victims and the majority of attacks are aimed at homosexual men (three out of every four are gay). Large cities account for 26% of cases.

The coordinator of the LGBT area at SDHPR, Samanda Freitas states that, although the numbers are alarming, the increase in reports is positive, as it helps to provide an overview, shows that the LGBT community is not passive in the face of violence and helps to combat aggression against diversity.
"We need to improve the handling of these cases and this involves training police officers to identify LGBT hate crimes and investigate them with the same care as other incidents," he told the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo.
