According to the Ministry of Health, the number of people registered to receive PrEP has increased by around 38% in the last five months.
The medicine that prevents HIV infection, and which studies have shown an efficiency rate greater than 90%, has been available in Brazil since January 2018 through the SUS. And since then, more than 11 thousand people have been registered.
