The year of the divas

2008 is the year of divas in Brazil. Three of the biggest icons of international pop music – Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Kylie Minogue – will perform in the country in the coming months, mobilizing thousands of fans and generating controversy, as happened particularly with the sale of tickets for the “material girl” shows in Rio and São Paulo.

The first to set foot on Brazilian soil is Kylie Minogue. The singer, who has never been to the country, will perform her acclaimed “KylieX2008” tour on November 8th, at Credicard Hall, in São Paulo.

The biggest name in Australian music and extremely popular in Europe, Kylie broke out in Brazil with the hits “Locomotion”, “I should Be so Lucky”, “Better the Devil You Know”, “Give Me Just a Little More Time” and “Can ´t Get You Out of My Head”. The latter was a success in all four corners of the planet, with six million copies of the album “Fever” sold. Brazilian fans will be able to hear these hits live, in addition to songs from the electrifying album “X”, the tenth of Kylie's career, released in November 2007.

After Kylie, the person performing in the country is Cyndi Lauper. The North American singer performs in São Paulo, at Via Funchal, on the 13th and 14th of November, in Belo Horizonte (15th), Curitiba (17th) and Porto Alegre (19th).

With more than 25 million records sold, Cyndi Lauper broke through with the hits “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, “Time After Time”, “Money Changes Everything”, “She Bop” and “All Through The Night” and won the Grammy breakthrough artist in 1985. His most recent album, “Bring Ya To The Brink”, was released in May and features partnerships and appearances from artists such as Basement Jaxx, Dragonette, Kleerup, Peer Astrom, Scrum Frog and Rich Morel. “Set Your Heart”, “Same Old Fucking Story”, “Grab a Hold”, “Rocking Chair” and “Into The Night Life” are some of the tracks. The singer returns to Brazil (she was here in the mid-90s) in top shape.

In December, the greatest of all divas, Madonna, performs in Rio and São Paulo after much confusion with the ticket sales systems, which angered fans. At Maracanã, the singer will perform on the 14th and 15th of December and, in the capital of São Paulo, on the 18th, 20th and 21st.

If you gave up watching the blonde diva at the time of all the confusion, good news: there are still tickets for the five shows that Madonna will perform in the country. For the show in Rio de Janeiro, on December 14th, there are still tickets for the dance floor, center and side seats. For the show on the 15th, there are tickets for the track, central and side seats and bleachers.

For the São Paulo show, which takes place on the 18th, there are tickets for the dance floor. For the presentation on the 20th there is a ticket for the track, orange lower chair, blue bleachers and orange bleachers. For the last show, on the 21st, there are tickets for the track and orange grandstand. There are no more tickets for the VIP track on any of the dates.
