The Russian deputy Alexander Starovoitov, from the Liberal Democratic Party, accuses U2's album of promoting "gay propaganda" – which is prohibited in the country, under the pretext of protecting children.

The far-right politician asked the attorney general to investigate Apple for making the album available for free on iTunes and also the Songs Of Innocence digital store.

Russian lawyer Evgeny Tonky stated that he intends to sue Apple for "moral damages".
