A pregnant employee of the women's fashion chain Maria Filó decided to share on social media a comment she heard from the company's director, Alberto Osório: that he would fire women and replace them with gay men, since they don't get pregnant.

The employee felt outraged and filed a complaint on Facebook about moral harassment due to discrimination. The post was shared thousands of times, led to a boycott of the company and even gained prominence on the Exame website, which specializes in economics and business.
After the repercussion, Maria Filó stated on social media that "with the intention of creating a relaxed atmosphere and in the playful tone for which he is known in the company, our director Alberto Osório ended up making a comment that, out of context, was inappropriate". The company also said it was "very sorry" for the offended employee and said that this was not the director's intention.

"We are a company made for women and by women in the vast majority. We are very proud to support our pregnant women and participate in the growth of a series of families. We take this opportunity to thank everyone who spoke out and asked the company for a return consistent with our almost 20 years of history", said the statement.
