Pabllo Vittar opens up and says: “Brazil is not prepared for a gay artist who speaks the truth”

Singer Pabllo Vittar commented on some controversial issues in an interview on the Morning Show last Wednesday (6). She spoke about fake news and the prejudice she suffers in Brazil. “The country is not prepared for LGBTQ artists who come forward and speak the truth. You can be gay, you can sing, as long as you are heteronormative and don't say the things I say. Nobody wants to hear these things, that the transvestite died, that the gay man was murdered”, she said.

Even so, she reveals that she uses these comments to become stronger. “This hatred only gives me an 'input' to take my work further and further, to places that need my message. We have to say, this (prejudice) is there, and it happens every day. As long as I receive messages like 'I was kicked out of my house' or 'I was beaten at school', I'll talk about it, yes.”

Pabllo also spoke about the difficulties she has in having a relationship and finding a boyfriend. “I've been single for over four years. I can't date, I think I have a certain block. I suffered a betrayal that led me to write 'Open bar'. It was with a boy from my school, he cheated on me with a boy who studied with me. The boy arrived: 'I'm your friend, I have to tell you. I stayed with your boyfriend'. I said: 'You're not my friend,'” he said.

And he also talked about his sexuality at home. “My sexual condition was never a taboo in my house. My mother always knew who I was, the person I was going to be. In my house, I wasn't the person who said 'I'm gay'. If today I am a strong, confident person who can do the work I do, it is because I had a very strong family structure,” she said.
