Father wears skirts to support son who likes to wear dresses

Nothing like a well-rounded father. In a village in southern Germany, a five-year-old boy likes to wear dresses to go out. Realizing that his son was being ridiculed at school, Niels Pickert, the boy's father, decided to wear skirts to support the boy.

"It's absurd to expect a five-year-old to be able to fend for herself without a role model to guide her. So I decided to be that role model. Wearing a skirt is the only way I can offer support to my son," Niels said.

One fine day he decided to leave the house wearing skirts to accompany his son. They attracted so much attention that one woman actually ran into a pole.

"Yes, I am one of those parents who tries to raise their children equally. I am not one of those academic parents who ramble on about gender equality during their studies and then, once the child is home, turn to his conventional role: he is fulfilling his professional career while his wife takes care of the rest", continues Niels.

Now, the boy is enjoying painting his nails. And his father does it too, to accompany him. When he is teased at school by his classmates, the boy responds: "You only don't wear skirts because your parents don't."
