Pope Benedict condemns “sex change”

After being in favor of the decriminalization of homosexuality, without however considering it a natural sexual orientation, the Vatican once again speaks out against gay rights.

This time, the pope criticized sex changes by arguing that "God created human beings as male and female." "It is not an outdated metaphysics if the Church speaks of the nature of the human being as man and woman and asks that this order of creation be respected", said Benedict 16, before cardinals and members of the Roman Curia, received at the audience to exchange congratulations for occasion of Christmas.

The pontiff asked that the language of creation be "listened to", "the contempt of which would be the destruction of man and, therefore, the destruction of the work of God". "Man wants to make himself and always and exclusively dispose of only that which interests him. But, in this way, he lives against the truth, against the creative spirit", stated the pope.

The pope also said that the church cannot limit itself to transmitting only the message of salvation to the faithful, but has a responsibility towards creation and must also defend it in public. The leader of the Catholic church once again defended marriage between a man and a woman as the only one that exists.
