Brasília LGBTS Pride Parade changes location

The Brasília LGBTS (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestites, Transsexuals and Supporters) Pride Parade Association promises new features in the demonstration for this year. The event, which already has a set date to take place, will be on June 17th and will change its route. After three years of demonstrations on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, the general coordination of the Associação da Parada decided to take it back to the Eixo Rodoviário, known as Eixão. The stop's gathering location will also change. Instead of the event starting at Quadra 106 Sul, as happened when the demonstration walked along that route, this year, the start will take place in front of Quadra 109 Sul, where Bar Beirute is located, the oldest LGBT-friendly bar in Brasilia. The reason for changing the location of the parade is the possibility of greater contact with city residents in this location, which is bordered by residential buildings. In a note sent to the press, the Parada Association says it is satisfied with the fact of having held the largest human rights demonstration in the federal capital in the political heart of the country, together with the National Congress and ministries. Eixão has already received the parade in four other editions (the last in 2003). In the years that the Brasília parade took place in Brazil's political center, there was booing for former congressman Severino Cavalcante for being against LGBT citizenship and photos in the press showing images of same-sex couples kissing in front of Congress National.
