The organizers of the London LGBT Pride have announced that the event has been postponed due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic – thus putting into practice the recommendations of health authorities, which ask the population to avoid crowds.
Alison Camps and Michael Salter-Church, directors of Pride in London, said in a statement it was a “difficult decision”, but the “health” and “safety” of the LGBT community and the general population are the priorities of the moment.
“With daily changes, we need to be more forward-thinking and make timely decisions to protect the health and well-being of our communities, volunteers and participants,” they said.
Camps and Salter-Church also announced the postponement of activities related to the parade, such as festivals and sporting events. They thanked you for your understanding “in these difficult times” and will communicate news as soon as they have it.
