Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the New York LGBT Pride Parade was canceled for the first time in almost half a century of existence.

According to Heritage of Pride, the organization responsible for the parade, complementary events have also been cancelled. The confirmation comes after the city's mayor, Bill De Blasio (Democrats), defined that all events with crowds scheduled for June – LGBT Pride Month, celebrated on a global scale – would have to be canceled.
