LGBT parades are colorful and active in several states in Brazil over the weekend

The LGBT Pride Parades colored several cities in Brazil this weekend. And they carried the message of acceptance of diversity of sexual orientation and respect for gender identity.

One of them was the Madureira Parade, which took place on Sunday (30), on Rua Carvalho de Souza, in Rio de Janeiro. The party was attended by the funk singer Valesca Popozuda, by reporter Adriana Bombom, as well as politicians and LGBT night artists, such as Juju Maravilha – cover by Carmen Miranda.

The special coordinator for sexual diversity at Rio City Hall, Carlos Tufvesson reveals that the Parade aims to highlight the various homophobic crimes that are pushed under the carpet by the Public Ministry. "Whoever is here is taking a stance against the eight years of increase in hate crimes against the LGBT population, against the open hate speeches against us that are freely spoken, without the MP taking a position."

In Teresina, Piauí, the 30th Diversity Parade also took place this Sunday (14), which evoked the joy of the participants and also repudiated the transphobic murder of Makelly Castro, who was killed in June 2014 and whose suspect for the crime was arrested on Friday (28). The party, which started at Parque Potycabana, featured a Vanessa da Mata at the end, at Ponte Estaiada.

The Military Police announced that around 110 people participated in the event and that no serious incidents were recorded.

In Bauru, in the interior of São Paulo, the 8th Diversity Parade took place on Sunday (30), which is considered the second largest in the State of São Paulo. This year, the party addressed the theme "Balance is in diversity" and was attended by 50 thousand people. The closing show was by Vanessa Camargo and the city duo Bruno Eloy and Sandra Lu.

In Aracaju, the 14th Sergipe LGBT Parade also took hundreds of people to march on Sunday (30). This time, for the theme: "We also have a family". The event is one of the organized actions that carried out other health, citizenship and seminars on topics related to combating prejudice.
