Participate in the petition against the ban on discussing sexual diversity in Rio

This Tuesday (27th) the definitive vote will be held in the Rio de Janeiro City Council on the law project which prohibits the distribution, exhibition and dissemination of books, publications, posters, films, videos, banners or any type of material, containing guidelines on sexual diversity in Elementary and Early Childhood Education establishments in the municipal public network of Rio.

Last week, in a first discussion, 20 councilors voted in favor and 9 against the project, which was authored by Carlos Bolsonaro (PP), son of deputy Jair Bolsonaro (PP-RJ).

A petition was created by the organization All Out in partnership with Mothers for Equality in Rio and signatures will be delivered before voting. "Against bullying in schools. Few hours to act in Rio", says the petition's online page. There's still time to participate, click HERE.

Carlos Tufvesson, president of Rio's Sexual Diversity Coordination, sent a statement last Monday (26), speaking out against the bill. The activist cited the cases student from Rio Grande do Sul, beaten by a colleague and another teenager from Vitória, who committed suicide because he couldn't handle the pressure at school.
