The new season of Malhação will feature the first gay protagonist. Actor Pedro Alves, who will play Guga in the soap opera, spoke about his sexuality to Quem magazine and revealed that he is bisexual.

In the soap opera, Guga will discover that he is gay after ending a heterosexual relationship, and meeting a boy called Serginho on the internet.
