At least four LGBT people were murdered last weekend

The trail of homophobia and transphobia continues to haunt the LGBT community across Brazil. According to data collected by GGB, this past weekend alone four people were murdered as victims of hate.

They total 250 deaths motivated by LGBTphobia in Brazil and which were reported this year alone. The number is thought to be higher.

On Sunday (2) the transvestite Raisa was found dead in Catete, Rio de Janeiro, reported the newspaper O Globo. She worked at Espaço Itaú de Cinema, in Botafogo, and recently won in court the right to be called by her female name.

In Porto Velho, Rondônia, another transvestite was shot to death on Saturday (1st) when she was in her prostitution spot. She, whose social name was not disclosed, was approached by a man inside a blue FIAT Pálio. He shot and fled. Police officers from the Homicide Division are investigating the case.

In Dois Buritis, in Goiânia, a transsexual named Flávia She was also murdered in the early hours of Sunday (20). She was at a bar table talking to friends when a vehicle pulled up and fired three shots. The police have no clues as to who committed the crime, but they had already said that they received threats.

And on Friday (31), people from Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro, found the body of Leandro Brant (Photo). He showed signs of aggression and was murdered with beatings. The crime was registered by the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Division in Belford Roxo.
