“They ask if I’m prepared for a gay kiss as if it were something bad”, says actor Juliano Laham

Interviewed in column F5, from the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, actor Juliano Laham, gay character Luccino in the plot “Pride and Paixão”, once again commented on starring in a gay kiss scene in the 18pm soap opera, on Globo. “They ask me if I'm ready for a gay kiss. I think it's wrong. Like that's something bad or wrong, you know. There are times when we unconsciously show discrimination through words. This happens without us realizing it, but it's good to be aware and think: 'Whoa, wait a minute! There needs to be equality,’” he said. Near the end of the novel written by Marcos Berstein, who even hopes for a happy ending for the character, the mechanic has become closer to Otávio (Pedro Henrique Müller), and everything indicates that the two will have a romance. “Luccino deserves love. I'm sure that if he doesn't get married, he will at least have a romantic partner. I feel this and I always hit this button”, said the actor. Finally, Laham highlighted that he does not like to classify people according to their sexual orientation. “I'll be very frank: I see everyone the same. I don't make these classifications. What we have to have is love and respect for others. The same love I feel for a woman is what another person can feel for a man. Love exists and I don't think we can differentiate what gay people feel. To me, this is erroneous.”
