The film Thor: Ragnarok (2017) has the character Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) in a notable supporting role. However, many fans were frustrated when they learned that the scene in which Valkyrie suggests that she has relationships with women was cut from the final edition – just like in the Marvel comics on which the film is based.

But now that could change with the sequel to Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, scheduled for November 2021.

Director Taika Waititi – recent Oscar winner for adapted screenplay by Jojo Rabbit (2019) – said that, if Thompson wants, Valkyrie will be portrayed as “queer”.

“The final decision is not mine,” Waititi said in an interview with Variety. “But in terms of actors, I feel like whatever makes them comfortable – whether it's what they believe is a natural choice or a natural way for the character to be [herself] – then I'm very supportive. If Tessa wants to do it, I’m in.”

We can't wait to have representation in the films of the God of thunder!
