The pioneering drag queen died this Wednesday (3), aged 80. Miss Biá, makeup artist persona Eduardo Albarella, from covid-19.

The artist performed countless drag performances – or “transformist”, as they said at the time – during the civil-military dictatorship, when the persecution of LGBT people was already practiced by the Brazilian State. Of her 80 years of life, she lived 60 of them riding. A knockout.

Enthusiastic about the current boom in drag queens, even saying she admires Pabllo Vittar, Miss Biá was critical of repetition and the “lack of creativity” in the industry today.

So far, no details have been released regarding the artist's health condition before her death.

Watch below the first of four parts of a documentary about Miss Biá produced by the Diversity Museum – and learn more about the legacy of the iconic drag queen.

We will miss you, Miss Biá.
