Today I'm away, I went to the doctor. It’s not just homophobia that’s the problem, it’s more serious than that, I’m receiving death threats,” the police officer told G1. Prior fears that the release of the video will hinder his career in the Military Police. He has been with the corporation for four years and, in several posts on his social networks, he usually declares his love for working at the corporation. “I want to continue working,” he said, in tears, before checking into a nursing home on Saturday (30/06). The soldier's lawyer, José Beraldo, said that a police report will be filed on the case this week. “It is a cybercrime. Let's study what measures we will take so that Google and Facebook can help us identify the author of the video and the people who are making death threats. We want the material to be removed from the internet.” According to Beraldo, “it was a kiss between friends, a peck, nothing lewd”. “He is being persecuted, he is the victim of a hate crime. He is a good police officer, a good person. We will do everything we can to ensure that he remains in the police.” In a statement, the Military Police reported that “the officer sought the institution's medical service and was referred for health treatment, which is why he is on leave.” The corporation added that “threats made to the PM via social media, with homophobic connotations, are being investigated”. “In addition to the investigation, the institution made protective measures available to the military police officer, through the PM Victim Program, of the Internal Affairs Department”, concludes the note.
