Pool Party livens up Carnival Sunday for Cariocas

Another dazzling visual party entertained locals and the like on this Carnival Sunday (22/02). It was The Original Brazilian Pool Party, organized by Rosane Amaral, at the Estação do Corpo gym, right next to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, under the arms of Christ. The label party started at 16pm. Anyone driving by outside could hear the bass coming from the speakers and see the huge queue forming at the door. The track, around the pool, was quickly occupied. Next door, on an attached tennis court, there are more bars and another dance floor decorated with screens, cheeses and white poofs.

It wasn't just the dance floor that was booming. So is the makeshift medical station near the pool. People were constantly coming in and out of the place. Some cases appear less serious and others more serious. Like the incident of a young man in his early thirties who, at around 19pm – when the party started to fill up – he had a seizure while dancing near the stage.

Two friends helped him until, five minutes later, the paramedics arrived and took him to the infirmary. "He was epileptic, he drank too much. It had nothing to do with drugs", minimized one of the doctors who also said that he had carried out – until 22:30 pm – seven treatments, none serious and all related to drinking.

Other funny scenes included people dancing with trees, a guy talking to a bush and another trying to have sex with one of the tables on the tennis court. Apart from medical care, everything went well, there were no fights. "The gays are very polite and behave well", praised one of the party organizers.

The organization, in fact, was impeccable. There were luggage lockers, very few queues at the bars, which were set up in strategic locations, and benches spread out in every corner for those who were more tired. The number of chemical toilets was also satisfactory.

A few brave people, in fact, lived up to the name of the party and entered the pool. Many foreigners also attended. The audience was made up of 98% of men dressed in shorts or jeans. Some were just wearing swim trunks.

In the early hours, still in the afternoon, the party featured Brazilian DJs Gustavo Scorpio and Flávio Lima. The attraction of the night was the set by American DJ Paulo, who rocked the dance floor and excited the audience, who only left at 2:30 in the morning. A shame for the plants who, until the next edition, next Tuesday (24/02), will have no one to talk to.
