Due to the aging population in Brazil and the world, there has been a growth in the job market for professionals specializing in the care of elderly people. With this in mind, the Instituto Amazônia Saúde e Bem-estar, a reference center for healthy aging and longevity, created a social project called TRANSCUIDADORXS and will be promoting the first free, non-profit training course for Elderly Caregivers dedicated to the LGBTT public ( more specifically to transsexuals and transvestites in situations of social vulnerability). The project has the support of the activist, Amanda Mapfre, a personality active in defending the rights and citizenship of the LGBTT public.
The courses will be face-to-face in nature, with 80 hours of classes, theoretical and practical, plus an internship consisting of technical visits to day centers and long-term care institutions for the elderly. The teaching staff is made up of professors in the health field (doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists and nurses) with experience in gerontology and who are professors at MED Masteclass, a continuing and permanent health education company that already has in its list of courses, the of caregiver.
This training will be a new possibility for the TT population to enter the job market and possibilities for new financial gains. At the end of the course, students will be qualified and qualified to work in the provision of health care and social assistance to elderly people with some degree of dependence and needs, whether in a home or institutional environment, whether in the public or private sector.
