PR: university discusses homosexuality in lectures

The 19rd Meeting for Reflections on Homosexuality began yesterday (3) at the State University of Londrina with the participation of teachers from early childhood education, primary, secondary and higher education, as well as university students. The meetings aim to disseminate scientific knowledge about homosexuality and sexual diversity as a whole and, consequently, put an end to homophobia and discrimination. Anthropologist Luiz Mott, professor at the Federal University of Bahia and founder of the Gay Group of Bahia (GGB), gave two lectures. The first discussed theoretical issues about homosexuality and the second, under the title “Ethno-history of homosexuality in Brazil: from the inquisition to the GLTB movement”, discussed the obstacles faced by gays throughout history. The second stage of the meeting will be on April 26th with talks by educational consultant Beto de Jesus. The themes are: “From the school we have to the school we want – including the differences”, at 9 am and “Practical issues in everyday school life about sexual orientation and gender identity”, at 14 pm.
