Psychologist Pedrosa Responds: I'm excited to see two guys having sex. This is normal?

There's one thing that turns me on a lot and that's seeing two guys having sex. Since I was a child, I had this habit of watching my father take a shower through the hole in the bathroom door. This excited me a lot. Several times I saw my cousin giving oral sex to my father through this hole. It seems that as I got older – I'm 45 years old – this desire increased. I've paid two guys several times to have sex so I could watch. I also have a habit of staying in the bathrooms and watching boys make out. What do you think of this? Junior (Campina Grande – PB).

Junior, it seems that your case is one of voyeurism which consists of the act of observing people, generally strangers, who do not suspect that they are being observed. They may be naked, undressed or engaged in sexual activity. Observation serves to obtain sexual excitement and not to have sex with the person or people observed.

Orgasm, almost always obtained through masturbation, can occur at the moment of observation or later when the voyeur recalls the observation. In severe cases, the act of observing constitutes an exclusive form of sexual activity.

Voyeurism is a type of Paraphilia, which are atypical sexual behaviors in the form of fantasies, intense exciting sexual desires that may involve non-human things or objects (animal excitement – zoophilia), suffering and humiliation (sadomasochism), for example. Probably, your experiences as a child of watching through the hole in the bathroom door conditioned your behavior.

You have associated sexual stimulation with watching people naked or engaged in sexual activity to get aroused. What I think? Well, if this doesn't cause you suffering or emotional harm and you don't harm others, I don't see a problem with this practice. Now, if you are feeling uncomfortable, you should go to therapy to try to eliminate this behavior.
