The city of Vienna, the center of the Austrian capital, had an initiative that included LGBT pedestrians. They launched traffic lights whose lighting was programmed to show couples made up of two men and two women, with hearts.

The lighting department spokesperson stated that the idea is to show a city free of prejudice and also to attract attention to traffic safety, as people would pay attention to unusual symbols.
After the action, the city will collect data to assess whether the gay traffic light contributed to traffic safety, Reuters reported.

The initiative is also combined with preparations for the 60th edition of the Eurovision festival, which takes place in Austria. The musical event supports the LGBT cause and last year gave victory to the Austrian Conchita Wurst – singer who wears a beard, dress and makeup.
